My favorite “Healed on the Inside” chapter
Saturday, January 28, 2023: Healed On the Inside
Jeanette had to work today, so it was a JJ and Daddy day. After JJ took a bath, I hopped in the shower, and we got ready to run some errands. JJ helped me put my sneakers on because of the cut on my back and my limited mobility. The kid is naturally a helper, just like her mom.
On our way to Walmart, we drove by the playground in Poinciana, and I asked JJ if she wanted to stop. She did, of course. JJ will never turn down an opportunity to play.
We parked and got out. As we walked toward the swing set, JJ said, "I didn't see the zig-zags on your back this morning, Dad."
"Oh, they're still there," I said, glad she hadn't seen my wounds while I got ready. "It'll take a while for them to go away."
JJ looked at me and, without missing a beat, casually said, "Oh, well, maybe God is healing your body on the inside before He heals the outside."
I looked at my four-year-old and rubbed the top of her head, smiling as my fingers entwined with her curls. "I bet He is, Honey. I bet He is."
I've been thinking about this interaction for the past several hours. I believe wholeheartedly in God and His ability to heal me. And I've been asking Him to heal me nonstop for the past month. I've been praying, breathing, and meditating, always asking for God to heal me so I can help my little girl grow up.
And she just told me, "Maybe God is healing your body on the inside before He heals the outside."
I think God just used my daughter to deliver a powerful message. I will be OK. He has got me. And her.
